Sintesio and Mobitel Welcomes International Data Mobile Experts to

Test Multi-Vendor Interoperability

— OMA’s 21st TestFest in Slovenia —

 

BLED, November 15, 2007 — More than 70 mobile data experts from around the world are expected at the Hotel Golf located in Bled, Slovenia, November 8 till November 16, for an interoperability testing event organized by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), an international specifications setting body consisting of more than 380 mobile operators, device and network suppliers, information technology companies, and content providers.

Earlier this year, OMA selected Mobitel, Slovene national mobile operator and Sintesio, an ETSI endorsed NGN interoperability test lab located in Bled, to host the event. Mobitel and Sintesio will provide test network configurations, supporting 2G and 3G wireless technologies, where it is possible to test applications in a real network situation.

A fair portion of this upcoming TestFest will be dedicated to the interoperability testing of OMA’s Enablers using IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS), which is seen as key for the successful and rapid deployment of next generation networks’ applications, and the convergence of fixed and mobile networks.

About the Sintesio:

NGN Symposium : Next Generation Multimedia

14.5.2007 – 15.5.2007, Hotel Golf, Bled, Slovenia

SINTESIO was organizing the 3nd International NGN symposium, which was focused on Next Generation Multimedia. The symposium took place 14-15th May, 2007 in Hotel Golf, Bled, Slovenia.

The Next Generation Multimedia was intended for professionals and executive managers from across the NGN value chain (mainly for network/content/service providers, multimedia application builders, but also for NGN equipment vendors, system integrators, and R&D institutions) from the Central and South/East Europe. The goal of the symposium was:

  • to examine and illuminate state-of-the art and future provisioning of multimedia content to residential and business fixed or/and mobile users;

  • to examine advantages and disadvantages of multimedia content delivery over Internet and/or over NGN;

  • to examine to required network and SDP capabilities and Service creation and provisioning environment and its interfaces;

  • to illuminate key multimedia services and applications for fixed and mobile users, which will shape the future of telecommunication services.

The Symposium Next Generation Multimedia builds on the ground of the 2nd NGN workshop Strategies for NGN, (http://webdev.zinet.si/631/) organized by Sintesio in November 2006. The workshop attended more than 140 participants from Central, East and South Europe.

The main focus of the 3rd Sintesio NGN symposium was given to delivery of multimedia content. What were the end users expectations, and what types the multimedia content were delivered in next generation networks or internet? Was the selection of the Service Delivery Platforms played the crucial role in deploying the next generation multimedia to residential and business end users? These were only few questions, which were  addressed!

The symposium Next Generation Multimedia followed the 4th meeting of ITU-T FG IPTV, which was hosted by Sintesio in Hotel Golf, in Bled, May 7-11, 2006.

4th Meeting of ITU-T FG IPTV

January 21, 2007– With the support of the Sintesio founders, Iskratel, Ltd., Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST), University of Ljubljana, its supporting member Telekom Slovenia and Hotel Golf, Bled, the Sintesio has officialy issued the invitiation to International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to host the ITU-T FG IPTV 4th meeting in Bled, May 7 – 11, 2007, which ITU-T FG IPTV has accepted at the plenary session of the last, 3rd meeting.The 4th meeting will take place in Hotel Golf, Cankarjeva 4, SI-4260 Bled, Slovenia.
“We were honoured with the proposal of Mr. Chae Sub Lee, the vice-chair of the FG IPTV, who have presented the proposal to host 4th ITU-T FG IPTV meeting at Bled in November 2006, during the Sintesio’s 2nd NGN seminar. The regional and local telecommunication industry has expressed great interest to support the organization of the 4th meeting in Slovenia”, said Dr. Bogdan Topic, President of the Sintesio Board.

“The mission of ITU-T FG IPTV is to coordinate and promote the development of global IPTV standards, taking into account the existing work of ITU-T study goups as well as Standards DEveloping Organizations, Fora and Consortia. With your kind hosting arrangement, I believe the 4th ITU-T FG IPTV meeting will be another important event to continue the ongoing ITU-T IPTV standardization activity”, said Mr. Malcolm Johnson, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standards Bureau in his confirmation letter.
